Mundipharma rand Burnaid® recently made a significant donation to the Ravenshoe Café Explosion Response Fund created by the Julian Burton Burns Trust. The explosion at this Queensland café resulted in significant burn injuries in several people as well as two deaths. The Julian Burton Burns Trust organised for the collected funds to go directly to those affected by the tragedy, some of whom have a very long road of recovery ahead of them.

Executive Chair and Founder of the Julian Burton Burns Trust, Julian Burton OAM said, “We will always be grateful for the support of Mundipharma and for the donation we received for the Ravenshoe Café explosion. This is another example of Mundipharma’s generosity and commitment to the burns community across Australia. Mundipharma are a wonderful organisation to work with and together we make a huge difference to people’s lives across Australia and New Zealand.”

Burnaid® is a long term partner of the Julian Burton Burns Trust, Australia’s leading community organisation dedicated to burn injury. Working closely with local communities and their partners, they seek to influence behavioural change in order to reduce the incidence and impact of burn injury. Prevention, care and support initiatives are all part of their strategy.

Thanks to Burnaid’s® support, the Julian Burton Burns Trust has facilitated the first face to face meetings of the Australian and New Zealand Burns Association Sub-Prevention Committee. These meetings enable representatives from all over Australia and New Zealand to come together regularly and share prevention initiatives in their respective states or territories, finding ways to further encourage higher standards of both burn injury prevention and patient care.

In the last four years, Mundipharma brand Burnaid® has also been working in partnership with the BurnSafe Schools Program: a fun, free, interactive burns prevention and first aid educational program in SA. The program is designed to educate primary school students about the incidence of burn injuries while offering practical prevention strategies and basic first aid knowledge. An estimated 20,000 students have received BurnSafe educational bags since the partnership started which have included first aid information and Burnaid® samples.

The partnership with the Julian Burton Burns Trust has been long standing, and Mundipharma is committed to the continued support of its activities. For more information about the Julian Burton Burns Trust, visit www.burnstrust.com.au
